I don't think I agree with this, but it's an interesting take that this photo Toyota shared isn't for the Tacoma. They say that based on Toyota's past with social media teasers it doesn't fit with what they did with the Tundra.

And when we asked Connor Hoffman, senior product communications analyst for trucks and body-on-frame SUVs at Toyota Motor North America, his reply was: “No comment.”
Which could mean that it really is. Or that it clearly isn’t.
However, if it is, this is a deviation from past public relations behavior. Remember then Tundra teasers that kept going and going and going for months? First we saw the front end in May of 2021. Then we saw the engine and the interior in June. The the moonroof and some new features were teased in July. And then we saw the suspension changes in August before the truck was finally revealed in September. You see where we’re going with this?
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is probably the most anticipated vehicle from the automaker in recent years, so would they slyly post a photo to Instagram without the Tacoma tag and expect everyone to just get it? Was it a marketing mistake? Or is that really just the Tundra?

That shape looks a lot like the current Tundra to me, maybe because that is what it actually is?
Or maybe because the Taco will look a lot like the Tundra. I hope that is not the case, because I am not a big fan of the latest Tundra's design.
I'm hoping Toyota reveals something next month at the New York Auto Show and that it is still a real Taco.

Toyota does seem to be taking design cues from the Tundra.
