As hoped/expected Toyota is offering two cab sizes and two bed lenghs.

For cabs you can choose between the four-door Double Cab and a two-door XtraCab, which has no back seat at all, but a bunch of built-in storage nooks and cubbies. The passenger seat (there are just two seats!) has a fold down backrest that creates a sort of a desk. XtraCab is available on SR, SR5, and TRD PreRunner grades only. By my read of the press release, the XtraCab trucks come only with the longer 6-foot bed.

So that suggests higher trims of the Tacoma (Trialhunter, Limited, TRD Sport/Off-Road) will come only as Double Cab configs with 5-foot beds, except that the Trialhunter specifically gets called out for having the option of either the 5-foot or 6-foot bed, so I assume that's the only long-boy option.

Now enjoy some pics of the XtraCab storage features!

It would've been nice to have a the larger cab + long bed + manual configuration but it looks like that's not possible, at least for now.
I'm glad that Toyota isn't making the 4 door crew cab standard. It'll be nice to see a mix of four and two door Tacomas driving around.
To me it is amazing and wonderful that Toyota is still offering this cab. It is just right for many people and most other makers have dropped it due to low sales volume. Toyota appreciates its loyal Taco fanatics and still builds the best choice of trucks for us and not just what sells the most.

It is another way that Toyota is setting new standards in truck marketing and sales. I am an industry insider and the new Taco is beautiful and fascinating to me. A real game changer imo.

Completely agree. It keeps it as a proper work truck if people spec it that way and keeps it versatile like all of the other gens before.

I agree. The Colorado WT has a 5 ft bed and no seat delete option. So really...how is that a work truck? I'am not saying it's a bad truck.
But it's not a work truck. Just a generic entry level vehicle.
