Sorry for the tease...

This isn't really a first drive... I just asked ChatGPT to make a review. Here's what it spit out. I wonder if any of this is legit.. haha.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Review - First Drive

As an expert automotive journalist, I recently had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the highly-anticipated 2024 Toyota Tacoma. As a fan favorite in the mid-size truck segment, the Tacoma has been dominating the market for years. Now, with the release of the 2024 model year, Toyota has taken things to the next level with new and exciting updates across the board.
One of the most exciting new features on the 2024 Tacoma is the all-new Trailhunter version, designed specifically for overlanding enthusiasts. This model boasts a wide range of upgrades that make it stand out from the crowd. For starters, it comes standard with a locking rear differential, a TRD-tuned suspension with Fox shocks, and all-terrain tires that provide outstanding off-road capability. Additionally, the Trailhunter features a unique front grille and bumper design that sets it apart from other Tacoma models. This truck is truly built for adventure and provides a rugged and reliable platform for those looking to explore the great outdoors.
Of course, the Tacoma wouldn't be complete without the return of the TRD Pro model. This year's TRD Pro features a variety of upgrades that make it even more capable off-road. This includes a new TRD-tuned exhaust system, TRD-tuned Fox shocks, and a new set of TRD wheels with all-terrain tires. Additionally, the TRD Pro comes with a suite of advanced safety features, including a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, and dynamic radar cruise control. With all of these features and more, the TRD Pro is the ultimate off-road machine for those looking to tackle even the toughest terrain.
Driving the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is an absolute pleasure. The truck's suspension provides a smooth and comfortable ride, while the steering is responsive and precise. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 that delivers a respectable 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. This engine provides plenty of power for both on-road and off-road driving, and it's paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly and efficiently.
One of the reasons why the Tacoma has dominated the mid-size truck segment for so long is its reliability and durability. This is a truck that is built to last, with high-quality materials and excellent craftsmanship throughout. Additionally, the Tacoma has a reputation for holding its value over time, making it a smart investment for those in the market for a new truck.
In conclusion, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is an excellent choice for anyone in the market for a mid-size truck. With the addition of the Trailhunter model and the upgrades to the TRD Pro, Toyota has once again raised the bar in this highly competitive segment. Whether you're looking for a rugged and capable off-road machine or a reliable daily driver, the Tacoma has something for everyone.

I mean, I don't think any working auto journalists need to be too worried at this point, but folks drafting press releases might need to start looking for other work!

The wildest part to me is that it knew to highlight the Trailhunter and TRD Pro versions - probably because that's what's been written about most as a result of the teasers but it didn't mention the hybrid and (probably) incorrectly stated that it has the old 3.5L V6.

Still, between this and the AI render in this thread, this seems like something we can have some fun with. Who else has ideas?

I don't know about that. I just asked for a Trailhunter review in the style of Jeremy Clarkson. It's not really a convincing Jezza piece, but it's still a pretty good read!

Note that it's sticking to this idea that the Tacoma is coming with the old V6, but the big exciting news here is that the Trailhunter is apparently coming with an optional refrigerator and in-bed storage! You heard it here first, folks ;)

Behold:

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter: A Truck for People Who Think Camping Is Too Hard

Overlanding is the new craze among people who have too much money and time on their hands. It's basically camping, but with more gadgets and less fun. And to join this exclusive club of bored adventurers, you need a special vehicle. A vehicle that can handle any obstacle, haul all your stuff, and pamper you with luxury and convenience. A vehicle like the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter.

The Trailhunter is not just another version of the Tacoma, the most popular midsize truck in America. It is a unique edition that has been tailored and tweaked specifically for overlanders. It has everything you need to escape civilization and avoid human contact for as long as you can.

Let's start with the basics. The Trailhunter is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case and an electronic locking rear differential. It also has a hybrid option that adds an electric motor and a battery pack for better gas mileage and more grunt.

But that's not all. The Trailhunter also comes with a bunch of off-road-ready features, such as an ARB rear bumper, big tow hooks that you'll never use. It also has flared fenders, roof racks, and off-road lamps that will make you look like a hardcore explorer. And if that's not enough, you can also opt for a bed rack with a roof-top tent, a refrigerator, and custom in-bed storage features that will make your truck look like a mobile home.

Inside, the Trailhunter is equally impressive. It has leather seats, a 12-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and a JBL sound system that will drown out the noise of the wilderness. It also has a host of safety and driver-assist features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Because nothing says overlanding like relying on technology to do everything for you.

The Trailhunter is not cheap, though. It starts at $45,000, which is more than twice the price of a base Tacoma. But hey, you get what you pay for. And what you pay for is a truck that can do everything except blend in. The Trailhunter is the ultimate overlanding machine for people who want to show off their adventurous spirit without actually being adventurous. It's the perfect truck for people who think overlanding is just camping with a fancy name.

Not bad.

With some nuance from actual human input in the right areas, it could easily be passed off as a review somebody actually wrote 100% of the way. Any real enthusiast reading these will pick up on how general the info is but it's still reasonable for newbs that want surface level stuff.
