Toyota is investing a bunch of money ($500 million) in their Texas plant, could this mean that the Stout is coming? Kirk Kreifels breaks it down and gives his thoughts.
I agree it shouldn't disrupt the position... but it's always a risk. And I'm not sure it's worth taking a risk. The only way I see it make sense is if this truck is CLEARLY not a real truck and no one would ever cross-shop it with a Tacoma.I see the compact unibody trucks as completely different than a midsize, body on frame truck like the Taco. so I don't think it would disrupt Toyota's market position.
I am guessing that it would just add to Toyota's small truck dominance. I kind of doubt that anyone seriously considering a Tacoma has even thought about a truck like a Maverick or Santa Cruz, but I have been wrong before.
