So is the platinum extended warranty additive to the original manufacture time/milage or is it just an overall extension of the original 3/36K? For instance is the 8 yr / 100K include the original 3/36K to make it 11/136K or just make the entire warranty 8/100K? My guess it whatever you pay it just makes the window of warranty coverage longer in time & milage. Manufactures seem to never be clear exactly what an extended warrantee is or I'm just slow interpreting their logic.

Correct. It includes the first 3/36000.

Extended warranties are great for dealer profit, which is why they push them so hard. Toyota reliability makes them an even worse deal than normal.

None of my Toyota vehicles ever cost as much to repair as I would have paid for a longer warranty. That is based on years of owning Toyota cars and trucks, some bought with over 100k miles and which never needed anything beyond normal maintenance.

With the purchase of my Tacoma, we got the extended warranty but got it through the bank we financed through. We did not finance through the Toyota dealership, already had our financing in order before even going to make the purchase. I always see the extended warranty as better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Bank pricing for warranty was a lot lower than Toyota's and looking over it, it covers all the same stuff, some things better.
