No need for another Tonneau thread to say I purchased a Gator SFV Tri-Fold Soft Tonneau today. I ordered it through Realtruck.com on sale for $50 off the regular price of $289. Free shipping too.

Not the top-of-the-line cover, but you can't beat the price.

I purchased the Diamondback switchback trifold . Very pricy but I wanted one thats strong and durable. Glad I did as I just had 2" of ice on it. When I travel I wanted a Tonneau cover thats hard to break into.

$2000 is too much for my needs when all it takes is a prybar to defeat it and cause a lot of collateral bed damage in the process. But, at least it wont be compromised by a raor or a butter knife like a soft cover. I might toss luggage or groceries in the bed but I dont work so I dont have any valuable equipment needing a hardcover.

The soft cover I bought has a lifetime tonneau framework and 10 year coverage on the material. I do wonder if a tonneau benefits mpg. Did your hardcover affect mileage?

I don't know yet if my cover helps the milage yet but I'll know when I take a trip later this year. I didn't pay $2,000 for my but purchased a second with a small scracth on it. Saved a few $100. I realize that anything can be broken into but its a lot more difficult.

Yeah - I have used tailgate weather stipping and it helps a lot. Manufacturers don't use it because it could trap water in an open bed. The aero benefits of a tonneau have been discussed for many years on truck forums. It just makes sense that a tonneau would help, but in many cases it doesn't really help much. Trucks are designed for the best aero without them and in at least some cases it can actually screw up the air flow - go figure. lol

Does anyone have a recommendation on what product to use for cleaning soft tonneau covers?

Why would you want to stand on a tonneau cover, hard of not. Its a bed cover.

The Diamondback comes in a model with a tough finish and cleats. It is heavy enough to stand on it, but the point is, that it is strong enough to stack things on, doubling the gear that you can haul. It even folds from the front and back, giving you access to the bed unlike most hard tonneaus. It makes a Taco just about the perfect overlanding truck, particularly a Trailhunter.

I didn't buy one because I don't need to strap cargo on top of the cover, but my friends who do have that need are super happy with their Diamondbacks. It is expensive and not for everyone, but they are very cool.

I know it's a matter of ruggedness and quality and not simply walking on it. I said it in jest.

My Gator soft trifold has a 10-year material and lifetime frame warranty which is longer than I will hold onto the truck. Simply a privacy device to keep wandering eyes honest and keep debris out of the bed and light weight items from flying out of the bed. Cost 239 with free shipping and took one hour to install. I can't beat the price, and it serves my purpose. If I have to replace it in 4 years, I'm still good with it. You can tell by my avatar I didn't go all out on a Tacoma.

But ya never know when a stupid tree branch will break off and punch a hole in the soft cover. Fingers crossed.

I am in the market for a tonneau cover for my 2024 Toyota Tacoma and I wanted to get some opinions from those who already have one installed. I know there are so many options out there - roll-up, folding, hard, soft - and it can be overwhelming trying to choose the best one for my specific needs.

I am looking for a tonneau cover that is both durable and secure to protect my belongings in the truck bed. I also want something that is easy to install and remove, as well as user-friendly in terms of functionality. Ultimately, I want to find a tonneau cover that not only looks great on my Tacoma but also adds value in terms of convenience and security.

So, I'm turning to this forum for advice - what tonneau cover do you recommend? Are there any specific brands or models that you have had success with? I would love to hear about your experiences and any tips you may have for someone in my position.

Thanks in advance for your help!

All of the bed covers come with advantages and disadvantages. I bought the roll up one from Synetic usa and love it but the internal box it rolls up into does take up valuable space in the front of the bed. I could not have a trip fold that blocks the rear view when open. The Synetic is very strong and water tight but like any of them it could be broken into easy enough.

I bought the TruXedo Sentry Hard Rollup cover. It seemed the best of both worlds. Hard cover but rolled up and didn't block the rear window. I have had it for about 8 months and really like it. The only downside, and I thought this was an installation error but it isn't, is that you have to roll the tonneau slightly to close the tailgate. I have read on multiple sites that that is intended for sealing.

My TruXedo Sentry is getting delivered tomorrow. I have had several TruXedo tonneaus and they looked like new the day I traded the trucks in. That BTW was after almost 14 years on my 2011 Tundra!

I have a friend that had a similar cover on his RAM and I have wanted a hard roll up ever since. Definitely the best of both worlds IMO. I hadn't heard about rolling the tonneau to close the tailgate, thanks for that heads up!

Yes I thought it was an install problem but then watched several YouTube videos from installers and they said that is what you need to do. There is a flat piece of rubber that lays on the tailgate. Unfortunately, it hangs down a bit when the tailgate is open and hits. You only need to roll it up an inch or two but it is a bit of a pain (extra step). That said, I don't use my tailgate every day so it's no big deal. See this video from about the 1:45 mark. Bing Videos Found a better one. Watch this from about the 8:10 mark. Bing Videos

Thanks for that info @PghTaco. I assume when you roll the tonneau back into place it latches by itself? Edit: that video answered my question, you just push down on the tonneau after the tailgate closes. That won't bother me at all.

I had noticed that rubber piece which lays on top of the tailgate, so it makes sense that would get in the way of the tailgate closing. It also seems like it would make the cover more water tight, so that is a good thing.
